This "Thank You Thursday" we are so grateful for people who are willing to extend their generous, helping hands. Our friends over at Home Depot have always been so kind to us and this time around was no exception. It won't be too much longer until The Kind Cake will begin selling in stores and this means we need a cool display. I had a very specific vision for our first display and with one trip to a craft store (a.k.a. a magically spiraling abyss into 'never leaving land'), found all of the elements needed to turn my idea into a tangible creation. Seriously, pop some 60's tunes in your ears and you've leapt into another dimension where everything smells like potpourri and you've suddenly taken an interest in decoupage and decorative birdcages. I digress.....
Ok, back to the story... Post craft store, on my excursion to Home Depot with the new materials in hand, I met the nicest fellow named Gil. Gil is a retired art teacher, who has his own wood workshop and works part-time at Home Depot. After I told him what The Kind Cake is all about and what we are doing he insisted on helping me assemble the parts I brought in once I had them painted. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to hang out with Gil, hear a little about his life while he (very quickly) assembled the little stand. We had the best time and I can't thank him enough for being so generous with his time and his support of me and The Kind Cake. I think we all could take a lesson from the cheerfully generous Gil; the world needs more people like him. That said, thanks to all who are willing to extend an act of kindness for a stranger!

I believe in serendipity and I believe in things ordained by something that's infinitely bigger than me. Thank God for that.
